My research primarily involves both, the study of the early evolutionary adaptation of microbes to the gut of Drosophila melanogaster, and the impact that the nutritional resources available for both the microorganism and the host have in facilitating this adaptation.
In order to address these questions, I use experimental approaches in controlled laboratory conditions. Some of the techniques I use include (amongst others): experimental evolution, microbiota analysis, genetic manipulation and microscopy. This works is part of NCCR "Microbiomes".
