I have special interests in the links between evolution and development, with a focus on the study of the evolution of gene expression patterns.
I supervise the development of Bgee, a database to perform high-throughput and automated comparisons of gene expression patterns between species. We have the aim of producing a database useful to disciplines such as comparative genomics, Evo-Devo, or transcriptome studies, whilst providing an improved integration of homology and related concepts into bioinformatics through ontologies and ontology tools.
I have strong skills in application development and design patterns, database development and optimizations, and reasoning using ontologies.
