The purpose of this interdisciplinary course is to provide students with the opportunity to learn about the need for, and impact of, social and sustainable innovation while supporting an organization in developing potential solutions to address a real-world societal problem.
This experiential learning course, which combines classroom learning with hands-on learning, is an opportunity for students to develop creativity, design thinking, project management, and analytical skills. Working with the instructors, experts in the field, and representatives from the client organization, teams of 4-5 students will conduct research, data analysis, and strategic planning in order to develop potential solutions that will help the organization to achieve the strategic objectives of the social impact project.
