Diploma in French as a Foreign Language

This programme is intended for people whose culture and/or language of reference is not French (upper secondary school-leaving certificate obtained in a non French-speaking country or territory). It offers extensive training in French as a Foreign Language in its language-related and cultural dimensions and provides the theoretical knowledge in literature, linguistics and teaching necessary for achieving mastery in this field (French-language literatures, linguistics and sociolinguistics of French, teaching the literature and the language, etc.).

Students without the linguistic knowledge required for access to the Diploma course of study must complete a preparatory (foundation) year (level A2) and, if necessary, an elementary year (level A1).

Career Prospects

The Diploma prepares you to teach French in your native country. Other career prospects are similar to those of graduates of the Faculty of Arts.

Students who fulfilled the admission requirements for the School of French as a Foreign Language without fulfilling the admission requirements for the Faculty of Arts, and who graduated from the School of French as a Foreign Language, can apply for the Faculty of Arts.
