From geosciences, social sciences, politics and public administration to religious studies, business and economics, literature, law, geography, psychology, medicine and forensic science, the choice of courses is vast. Since the Bologna Agreements, the main course of study has been divided into two parts: the Bachelor's degree (afirst cycle of three years) and the Master's degree (asecond cycle of three to four semesters), which offers the possibility of specialising in a particular field of study or pursuing interdisciplinary training.
For those wishing to continue their studies, UNIL's postgraduate programmes (Master's of Advanced Studies and PhDs) help them to integrate into the labour market or develop their skills in a related field.
Finally, continuing education allows adults who are already working to continually adapt their professional skills to rapid technological, cultural, social and environmental changes.

UNIL joined the CIVIS Alliance in 2022. CIVIS is working to build an inter-university campus for more than 500,000 students, researchers and administrative and technical staff. In particular, the Alliance aims to create multiple degrees and launch graduate schools, PhD and hybrid programmes.
