Eligibility criteria

When projects are submitted, their eligibility criteria are checked before they are submitted for strategic and scientific evaluation.

Administrative checks

  • Compliance with framework conditions
  • Ethical rigour
  • Rigour in terms of data protection
  • Consideration of intellectual property issues
  • No pursuit of commercial interests, if any are disclosed
  • Minimum terms of engagement

Selection criteria

Projects are subject to a strategic and scientific evaluation. The criteria are as follows for the Proxima (Rolling Call) projects, and will be adapted for the Synergo and Volteface projects, nonetheless pursuing the same objectives:

Strategic evaluation

  • Quality of the partnership: matching the field of scientific research with social demand
  • Relevance of the research to the partner
  • Thematic or collaborative originality
  • Exploitation of deliverables by the partner
  • Budget feasibility and appropriateness of budget allocation
  • Valorisation potential for UNIL

Scientific evaluation

  • Scientific significance and currency
  • Theoretical quality and originality
  • Methodological quality and originality
  • Feasibility of the project

Evaluation scale

The evaluation scale is as follows. It is modelled on the SNSF evaluation scale to which researchers are accustomed.

5 - Convincing in all relevant aspects. Almost no weak points.

4 - Convincing in most relevant aspects. Few clearly identified weak points.

3 - Convincing in several relevant aspects. A few clearly identified weak points.

2 - Some strengths in relevant aspects. Several clearly identified weak points.

1 - Few or no strengths identified in relevant aspects. Numerous serious weaknesses.
