The UNIL Donut: a navigation tool for the ecological and social transition

In order to guide it in the development and monitoring of its Transition Strategy, UNIL has chosen to draw on the theoretical framework of the Donut by the economist Kate Raworth;By combining the concept of planetary limits with that of fundamental human needs, the Donut framework outlines a safe and just space for humanity. In practical terms, the aim is, on the one hand, to define impact reductions that will enable the institution to respect the planetary limits and, on the other, to quantify the university's current environmental impacts without complacency.
.This exercise of déclinaison du donut à l’UNIL a permis d’établissement un diagnostic rigoureux mettant en évidence la "hauteur de la marche", soit l’écart between the current situation and the targets that the most recent scientific knowledge makes it possible to set for the 2050 horizon corresponding to the major international commitments arising from the Paris Agreement in particular.
