Vegetarian Day

A sustainable food policy on campus

Since the start of the 2020 academic year, the UNIL cafeteria have been offering the community one meat-eating day a week. This day, which changes every week, allows the community to reduce the amount of meat consumed in order to reduce the carbon impact. It is a well-known fact that meat consumption accounts for most of the impact of food on the environment. We consume far more meat than is necessary for our bodies to survive on the planet.

UNIL has been working for several years to integrate the objectives of its sustainability policy into the services it offers to its community. Since 2019, it has developed a Reference framework for a sustainable and balanced food supply at the UNIL.
