DMPonline UNIL

DMPonline UNIL is a tool designed to help with the (co)drafting, revision and sharing of DMPs. In particular, it allows you to write a plan collaboratively and request a review directly from the application.

An online tool for drafting DMPs

DMPonline UNIL also enables institutions to create DMP templates and integrate specific resources and recommendations. The UNIRIS department has therefore used this tool to create a UNIL DMP template. When a request for storage space is sent to the Computing and Research Support Division (DCSR), this UNIL DMP is now mandatory (see Management Directive 4.5).

Getting started

You can use DMPonline UNIL in several languages : German, Spanish, English (UK), English (US) and French.

IMPORTANT : Create an account

When you log in for the first time, you will need to create an account. When you fill in the form, be sure to indicate ‘Université de Lausanne’ as the institution to which you belong.

The next time you log in, you will be able to link this account to your UNIL identifiers and use them directly thereafter.

Choosing a DMP model

To create a DMP after logging in, click on the Create plan button at the bottom of the My Dashboard or in the menu at the top of the page. Then enter the title of your project and specify whether it is a test.

Features offered by DMPonline UNIL

Writing the DMP

The tabs on the interface allow you to navigate through the various functions as you edit your DMP:

  • The 'Project Details' tab includes basic administrative details to fill in and allows you to select the support you want for your plan.

  • The 'Plan Overview' tab shows which model your plan is based on, what help is offered and gives you an overview of the questions that are asked.

  • The ‘Write plan’ tab contains the questions you need to answer, organised by section. When you click on a tab, different banners with titles appear. These represent the sections of the DMP and the number of questions they contain is indicated.

Sharing the DMP and defining its visibility

The 'Share' tab allows you to invite other people to read or contribute to your plan, to ask for advice (feedback) and to define the visibility of your plan.

The Share tab is also the one where you can set the visibility of your DMP:

  • Private: visible to you, and your research team (researchers and your institution's administration)
  • Organisation: anyone from your organisation can view your plan
  • Public: visible to everyone in the list of Public DMPs.

By default, all new plans as well as test plans are private. Public and organisational visibility is reserved for completed DMPs. You must complete à at least 50% of the questions to gain access à these options.

Request feedback

To request consultancy assistance on your plan, click on « Demande d’assistance conseil » (« Request feedback »). The researchdata@unil.ch team and research consultants (where applicable) will be informed of your request and will respond within three working days.

Their comments will be visible in the « Comments » field adjacent à each question. You will be notified by e-mail when your plan has been proofread.
