Documentary information officer apprentices learn to carry out the administrative work involved in acquiring documents, as well as rating, classifying and cataloguing them, keeping the various research tools up to date (catalogues, inventories, databases, internet, bibliographies) and repairing damaged documents.
This apprenticeship also involves learning how to welcome and provide information to users, carry out simple documentary research, ensure the pre-circulation and return of documents, manage call-backs, keep a file of users and consultation statistics.
The apprenticeship as a document information officer at UNIL is based in the Earth Sciences Library of the Faculty of Science and the Environment. This is a specialised university library located in a rich environment where you will meet many different people. A self-starter, you will assist the librarian in her work.
To do this job, you need to be able to adapt to technological developments, have a good memory, intellectual curiosity, a methodical mind and be good at making contacts. You will also need to have excellent people skills and enjoy working as part of a team, as well as being able to demonstrate independence.
