JOM 2020

Jom 2020 and its usual workshops did not take place at UNIL.

Indeed, in order to guarantee a framework that is fully compatible with the health constraints linked to the COVID-19 epidemic, the JOM was offered to schools in a new format. In order to avoid the need for more than 20,000 pupils to travel throughout the canton on 12 November, the 2020 edition took place in the classroom, with numerous activities proposed especially for the occasion: Anne-Flore Marxer's film A Land Shaped by Women, short films, an exhibition on the right to vote for Vaud women, a competition and turnkey educational sequences. JOM 2019

This year's event took place on Thursday, November 14, 2019. Children in 7th, 8th or 9th year (HarmoS) came to UNIL with one of their parents or another person working or studying at the university and participated in various workshops.

To host breakfast and start the day with enthusiasm, we invited Prof. Silke Grabherr, Director of the Centre universitaire romand de médecine légale, who was able to develop post-mortem angiography. The winner of the 2019 Academic Outreach Award told of her atypical and inspiring path for children accompanied by their parents.

JOM 2017

2017 event took place on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

We were honored to welcome two distinguished guests to the opening breakfast: the University Rector, Ms Nouria Hernandez, and the joint winner of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2017, Mr Jacques Dubochet, who both gave very inspiring speeches, encouraging children to follow their dreams and desires, in spite of assumptions or preconceived ideas.
