Defibrillator
UNIL has installed semi-automatic defibrillators in a large number of buildings.
These devices are available for self-service in alarmed cabinets.
What does the device consist of?
1 défibrilator comprising:
- Électrodes with location indication for correct positioning
- Apparatus with visual information explaining the different steps to follow
1 kit including:
- 1 scissors for cutting clothes
- 1 razor in case of significant pilosit&e;, to allow good contact of the électrodes with the skin
- 1 protective mask for ventilation
- One pair of blue nitrile gloves
- A cloth to dry the skin
When should it be used?
When the victim does not respond, or is not breathing, it is recommended that, after calling 115 (UNIL alarm centre) or 144 (Urgences Santé, Vaud), the d&eacrillator be used.
The device will give verbal instructions as soon as it is switched on. It will guide you through the various steps and it will tell you when to press the button to send the electric shock, there is no danger that
the device won't work.
The 144 centre can also guide you in the actions to take and the procedures to perform while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
